Personal Practice Theory (PPT)
1. The classroom is a safe, supportive and positive environment, as well as motivating and challenging. The students feel comfortable in expressing themselves and asking questions.
2. The student has responsibility in their own learning. Both the student and the teacher assume the role of learner and educator. Both must look at their world critically and challenge the presuppositions, recognizing that they have a role in society and can effect change in both themselves and the world around them. Both the student and the teacher should realize that education is a lifelong process.
3. The educator makes the content relatable and practical to the lives of the students. The teacher uses examples that relates to the students’ lives and shows how the content knowledge applies to real life situations.
4. Educator provides an environment in which all students can learn. Various methods (ie, manipulatives, visuals, etc) are used to facilitate the various learning styles. The educator embraces and encourages the unique gifts of each student and what they have to offer.
Since it is important to have the support of both the administration and parents, letters asking for their support of the curriculum have been provided for each.
